For the first time eversince Olympic games were started, India has won a gold medal for an individual event. The path of success is gradual. India has taken more than a century to achieve this. Malleswari won the bronze at Sydney Olympics in 2000. This was followed by a silver by Rathore in 2004 at Athens. Now we have moved on to the dream gold through Abhinav Bindhra.
Congratulations to Abhinav on this stupendous achievement. The gold hunt by India has started with AB (Abhinav Bindhra). Let CD………………. follow. No doubt this millennium belongs to Bharath.
Many governments have announced huge cash awards in appreciation of Abhinav’s performance. But what is more interesting is the announcement of award by BCCI. Hats off to BCCI. Flush with funds, if BCCI uses a part of their surplus to other sports also, days may not be far off for India to get many more gold medals in Olympics.
What is more heartening is the expression of happiness by Kapil Dev who led India to glory in 1983 world cup cricket. He has stated that Abhinav’s gold is more precious than 1983 Crown. Lesson from this sport - Have a target in your life - Results will follow. Jai Hind.
