India pulled off a wonderful vi ctory in the first test against England at M.A.Chidambaram stadium ( Chepauk). On many occasions match at Chepauk used to be over in three to three and half days. But this time cricket fans had their moneys worth as the match extended to the last hour on fifth day.
After England set a huge fourth innings target of 387 runs everyone thought it to be a very difficult task. Incidentally this is the fourth highest fourth innings target ever achieved. After India’s dismal show in the first innings many lost hope of India’s victory. But this was not to be.
It was sizzling Sehwag who wrest the initiative from the English with his stupendous superfast knock of 83 in just 46 balls with 4 sixes. After this India never turned back. It was only Dravid, who is consistant in his failure now a days, who did not perform not only with the bat but also on the field.
With very good contribution from Sehwag there was no looking back for India since Tendulkar entered the arena. India piled up runs in steady phase. Tendulkar too simultaneously. Yuvaraj alongwith Tendulkar plundered runs and took India towards memorable victory. In the bargain Tendulkar also completed his 41st Test century through a boundary which also incidentally became the winning stroke.
The fourth innings chase at Chepauk once again proves ” If you think you can, you can”
Our appreciation and salute to Dhoni’s team for their sterling performance and congratulations to Sachin for his yet another ton. One more feather in his colourful and invincible cap.
