Rajini - To be or not to be - a political analysis

Author: Corporate Cat | Files under Politics

Will he come? He will not come.  I will come at the appropriate time.  Even if I come late I will be the latest. I neither want a party nor a flag. Shall we start a party? These are all the questions and statements that formed part of Rajini movie. There is no doubt that the Superstar Rajnikanth has a very large number of fans who want their matinee idol to start a political party.

Rajni was used for political purposes by DMK leader Karunanidhi in the year 1996 to express his opinion against Jayalalitha Government in Tamil Nadu. It was a thundering success.  Jayalalitha was voted out of power and Karunanidhi became the Chief Minister. After this no due recognition was given to Rajni. His disappointments were reflected in one of the songs in the film Baba (”hereafter I cannot be cheated by those who used me as a ladder”).

During 2001 elections in Tamil Nadu Rajni’s “voice” was sought by political parties to be used against Jayalalitha .  At that time Jayalalitha made an open statement to the effect that Rajni’s voice will not have any impact in Tamil Nadu politics for this election. She proved right and she was back on the saddle.

Rajni missed the winning bus in the year 1996 when the people of Tamil Nadu desperately wanted a non dravidian party to come to power. At that time had he entered the fray aligning with  G.K.Moopanar probably he would have been the Chief Minister. But he did not enter the politics but restricted himself by just supporting DMK -TMC alliance.

For the past 20 years or so Rajni could not give a categorical decision as to his entry into politics. Is this due to his lack of self confidence?.  Is this due to lack of interest in politics? or Is this due to the respect he has for Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi?.  Is this due to the fear that his films may not be commercial success after he enters politics? or Is he waiting for a signal from the ALMIGHTY?  Let us analyse this one by one.

Self confidence: If we see Rajni’s past history there is no room to believe that Rajni is a person with lack of self confidence. He is a person who talks openly and who corrects if anything has gone wrong. He deals with problems relating to his personal and professional with confidence. Hence one can rule out lack of self confidence.

Lack of interest in politics: If Rajni does not have interest in politics he would have declared that he will not come to politics. His punch dialogues in his films, his participation and speech in public functions and demonstrations, his political statements against Jayalalitha goes to prove that he has interest in politics.

Fear of commercial failure: To a certain extent this may be one of the reason for his hesitation. Rajni hails from Karnataka. Tamil Nadu politics is full of Tamils (green tamilians !) and Tamils alone ( Hindi is only for DMK central ministers and their children to get central ministry and Lok Sabha Memberships). His entry into politics may drive away his fans from other parties. There is no guarantee that they will join his party once he starts one. But this fear is unfounded if we go by the past history of  Actors turned politicians -  MGR, Jayalalitha and Vijaykanth.

Respect to Karunanidhi:  Rajni considers Karunanidhi as a living legend of Indian politics and he cannot think of making politics against him.  If he enters politics or if he starts a party he will be compelled to go against Karunanidhi. Rajni does not like this as he holds  Karunanidhi in high esteem. Hence if this is a reason, may be this is a reason, we cannot see Rajni entering politics during the lifetime of Karunanidhi. This cannot be expressed openly.

Waiting for Signal from Almighty:  This could be another reason. Rajni is known for his philosophical thinking. Such persons always wait for a green signal from  supernatural powers by way of flash, hunches etc.

Whether Rajni enters politics or not one should remember that only persons who mingles with public and who is a field worker can be a leader. Inaccessible persons cannot last long in politics. Earlier he comes out of the shell it is better for Rajni. What India now requires is new leaders with broader outlook and with selflessness. Rajni is blessed with mass following and he can really create a wave in Tamil Nadu politics. With proper alliance Rajni  can make a winning combination on debut.

Rajini will surely come into politics. No doubt in that, its very clear that he is not interested to start now.

Based on his views and statement I observed he would commence his politics work from his 60 years, hopefully he will delivered 2 big movies within that as a mass hero, before start his mass politics.

Personelly I suggest him to not start any politics for next 2 to 3 years, but should not postpond after that at any cause.

Being pattience is the worlds strongest mandra to achieve any fine mirracle,at the same time shouldnt loose the right opportunities.

All the best for his best party after 3 years or beyond that.BUT NOT THIS TIME.

    MY BEST WISHES TO RAJINI
